No limits: Büro Ole Scheeren launches designs for Empire City in Vietnam

Empire City, a mixed-use development in Ho Chi Minh City, will be designed by Büro Ole Scheeren. The energy of the tropical city is reflected with aspects of both residential and urban community explored through different elements.

The tallest tower of the three, with 88 floors reaching 333, will include a hotel, short stay apartments, residences, multiple public spaces and a public observation deck.

Scheeren beautifully describes, "We wanted to capture the spirit of the tropical city, where life indoors and outdoors plays an equally important role... How can we connect the sky and the ground? This is still one of the most beautiful possibilities of the skyscraper itself, which has been so commercialised and mistreated by architects and developers... In a sense, we wanted to bring back some of the lyrical beauty of how the skyscraper could be."
