Tokujin Yoshioka creates cloud-like sculpture from thousands of acrylic rods
Japnese designer Tokujin Yoshioka has created a large sculpture to mimic a cloud in the lobby of a Houston skyscraper. 17,700 acrylic rods are suspended in the air across the 45 sqm lobby's ceiling.
3,540 clear cables hold together the rods which are in the shape of a prism, enabling them to catch and reflect light.
"Prismatic Cloud is a sculptural work made of light, transcending concepts of shape by giving a figure to all human senses utilising immaterial elements," Yoshioka said.
