A development application for a 61-storey tower in Pyrmont has been lodged by The Star Entertainment Group with the NSW Department of Planning. It will house the first Ritz-Carlton hotel in the city for more than a decade.
The development would “deliver significant benefits to the local community,” said The Star Entertainment CEO Matt Bekier.
The Star is promising 1000 construction jobs and an additional 500 once operational. Mr Bekier said the development would support the new Sydney International Convention Centre and help connect Darling Harbour to the Sydney Fishmarket and The Bays Precinct. It is also constructing the ‘Pyrmont Neighbourhood Centre’ over five levels with a proposed ‘social enterprise cafe.’
