$120m Little National Hotel to be built over Wynyard Station

A $120 million Little National Hotel is to be built just over Wynyard Station by Canberra based Doma Group, demonstrating the increase of competition above new metro stations.

"We had been looking for a Little National Hotel site for a number of years in Sydney, but identified this prime location as being perfect to suit the needs of our guests," Doma Group's general manager for development Gavin Edgar said.

"This innovative approach to hotel design is being watched with intense interest by international hotel operators and owners."

Bates Smart Architects will be designing the Sydney hotel and commented that the Little National Hotel's utilisation of airspace over the Wynyard Walk entry, reflected the trend in NSW towards the integration of transport and development.

"Building over transport presents many opportunities to innovate, including trying new solutions like timber construction, to produce future-focused architecture that improves the city and daily life," Bates Smart director Guy Lake said.
