Darling Harbour is getting a new Japanese-designed two-storey library

Lendlease is constructing a six-storey development called Darling Exchange which will be inspired by Japanese designs. This is part of the NSW Government's $3.4 billion to revamp Darling Harbour and is going to be nothing short of a spectacular, high-tech library.

The space will be hosting more than just books, with features suitable for collaboration, meetings or workshops - a great hub for entrepeneurs.

"We're developing a library where innovating, creative and sustainable communities can thrive," says Lord Mayor Clover Moore.

The building will consist of a facade made from 20 kilometres of recycled timber and will also include a market hall, child care facility, mezzanine restaurant and rooftop bar overlooking Cockle Bay.
