WeWork is the world's leading co-working business, worth $US20 billion as of last year. They specialise in temporarily renting out office space to a range of individuals and small companies. One of its aims is to create a more 'human' atmosphere with creative flair, snacks and the right people.
It has been suggested that WeWork is revolutionising white-collar work and bringing a new 'energy' to the workspace. The concept of similarly minded workers gathering and forming a community has been recent, with networking being encouraged.
Perhaps unlike the typical corporate environment, WeWork spaces are more relaxed and carry a positive vibe.
Nevertheless, it has been suggested that the company is overvalued, not owning a lot of physical assets. Their strategy involves leasing a place long-term, gaining the best deal possible with landlords and then renting out space at a high cost. Those that utilise WeWork, however, are aware of these increased prices but are willing to pay for the other benefits.
