Australia’s largest developers and infrastructure groups are competing for the right to renovate and operate Sydney’s iconic ferry wharves, a project estimated between $1 billion and $2 billion.
AMP Capital, Broadspectrum’s APP Corporation, Lendlease, Dexus, Scentre Group and Plenary Group are competing against global infrastructure operators and developers including Dutch giant BAM International, Canada’s Brookfield and Malaysian giant Setia in the early stages of the project.
The wide field of responses to the government’s request for expressions of interest point to the appeal of developing such a high-profile site. While residential projects will not be considered in the project, the precinct offers a valuable site for office or retail facilities.
